Inspect Your Home’s Exterior for Winter Damage

The winter months can be tough on your home’s exterior, leaving behind damage that could lead to costly repairs if not addressed. March is the perfect time to do a full exterior inspection to catch small issues before they become big problems.

Roof Inspection:

  • Look for Missing or Damaged Shingles – Snow and ice can weaken roofing materials, causing cracks, curling, or missing shingles.

  • Check for Ice Dam Damage – Ice dams can cause roof leaks. Inspect your attic for signs of water stains or mold.

  • Clean and Inspect Gutters – Clogged gutters can lead to water damage. Ensure downspouts direct water away from the foundation.

Foundation and Siding Check:

  • Inspect for Cracks and Gaps – Freeze-thaw cycles can cause small cracks in the foundation or siding, allowing water and pests inside.

  • Seal Windows and Doors – Gaps around windows and doors lead to energy loss and higher bills. Reapply caulk if needed.
